Dad Wants To Know.........

First let me say that Dad wants to know this, not me! I say I'm just introspective but he wants to know about each of you. The situation is...........I don't bark. I can I suppose if I chose to but I don't. I will growl a little when I wrestle with Dad. They say they have only heard me bark one time since they brought me home and that was at Dad for something he was doing. So Dad wanted to know if any of you don't bark either. For my friends that are cats, I think I know the answer. But if you are a cat and bark, please chime in!

I want to spotlight a friend of mine that I think is deserving of more friends. Please visit my friend Charlie. You will love him!

Thanks everyone.

  1. Actually I don't bark much at all unless I have to get mom's attention. She was amazed that I was about 4 or 5 months old and still hadn't made a sound and then a little bark came out. Now I only bark if necessary. The neighbor next door complimented me on me not barking...he said he only had seen me bark at something I didn't know well or like which is a good thing. Other than that, I usually stay rather quiet. We will visit your friend! Lots of love, Holly and mom

  2. Your dad should consider himself very lucky that you don't bark! My dad and mom would be thrilled if I would not bark - as a matter of fact, I am barking like a crazy dog right now!

  4. We have three dogs, and they very rarely bark. Well, I did teach the greyhound to "speak" on command, but overall they're all pretty quiet. Our newest addition, Zoe, will bark a little if there's something unusual going on, which we appreciate. :)

  5. I didn't bark for years. Then Dawn taught me how to "speak" by barking herself. Now I bark all the time. Poor Dawn! :)

  6. Thanks for the shout out Noah!!! I am a barker. I bark. I growl. I do a GREAT Beagle impression when I feel threatened...which is alot... (Mom is rolling her eyes? She says she wont be surprised if I talk one day! Sweet!) HOWEVER I heard that my bestest friend Beau did not bark until he met the cows when he was like 8 months old. And even after that he didn't develop his "guard dog bark" until he was well over a year old. Maddie, my old lady, was apparently 2 years old and SILENT. Then she spent a weekend with a barker, mom said it was all downhill from there! So everyones different! You'll find your voice! <3 Charlie

  7. Layla does not bark. She makes a multitude of other noises - howls, woos, huffs, growls, etc. She can bark, but I think she's barked less than 3 times her whole life. But, she didn't start making all her noises (we call it "talking") until she was about 2 years old. I was worried that she was actually mute, but it just took her awhile. And now she always speaks her mind.

  8. PS ~ I'm not sure now accurate it is, but I heard that some study was done that showed barking actually causes discomfort for the dogs. Similar to how humans get sore throats after yelling? Maybe Noah has a more sensitive throat and doesn't like to irritate it.

  9. I am a barker - though for some reason I don't frighten anyone!

  11. I am very non vocal. It's very rare to hear any noises from me, unless its snorting :)
I sometimes wine or growl in my sleep (or so my momma says) but if I do let out a bark I scare everyone cuz they never hear my "voice"! :)

  12. We Greyhounds rarely bark, unless there's something really important going on. Well, Lilac is senile so she barks through the night, but she doesn't count! Mom says that Morgan makes up for all of us, though!

  13. Two out of 6 of my dogs hardly ever bark, only once in a while. Then there are my annoying ones that never shut up!! BOL We've got a little of both around here!

  14. Hi Noah, Mika and Eva here,
We only bark at rubbish trucks, passers-by with their dogs and strangers who approach our house.

On top of the lists, Eva barks at moving vehicles in front of the house, thunders, strong wind, cats, squirrels and fireworks too...

    Do we bark a lot?

  15. You don't bark?

My neighbors want to know if Misty can come live at your house, and Noah can come live at ours!

  16. Barking is one of our fun traits, while at Fly Ball we bark like idiots, Agility we bark the whole course for joy, at Dad when he comes home we bring him back to reality.

BUT...when we put on our BLUE VEST we turn into little angles and NEVER BARK!...ok maybe once or twice. WOL :)

  17. Well first off, I don't call it barking. I call it talking. I don't do it very often. Only when I want to have a conversation. Beth will ask me a question and I answer....other than that I don't just talk for no reason.... You must just a quiet guy....kinda keep things to yourself....nothing wrong with that. I went and visited your friend. Cool blog! Thanks for introducing us.

  20. I am a dog breed that barks A LOT! I bark at everything and anything. My breed of dog is Welsh! :) I am about 18 inches long and my legs are 4-6 inches long. I love to eat anything sweet or spicy. There's to much to say!

  21. Shiva definitely barks, mostly just when she's freaked out to sound the alarm. She also barks when I give her a confusing signal during an agility run. Hehehe.

My childhood dog growing up, though, she never ever barked. I think I may have heard a small "woof" once in her seventeen years of living. At first I thought it was her breed, she was a Siberian Husky, but I've met many Sibes who bark since then. Now I know it was just her personality. :-) Not a bad thing, really.

  22. There are three of us here. All it takes is for one of us to bark once and the whole bunch of us chimes in. The Duke and Duchess get pretty upset with us because we can really be annoying and LOUD!
The Duchess says she wishes we were all like you!

    Kisses,
    Emma Rose
